We are always moved to see how dedicated employees go above and beyond to support cyclists during the RWS. It's wonderful to see photos and videos capturing the joy and commitment of the cyclists - a testament to your hard work. Staff and volunteers, you should be incredibly proud of what you've accomplished in this competition!
As in previous years, many teams have earned a place in the running for the "Crew of the Year" title, but only one winner can be crowned.
Awareness and excitement
Each year, the Road Worlds for Seniors awards “Crew of the Year” to a team that goes above and beyond to create an engaging, inclusive, and memorable experience for participants. The selection criteria focus on overall impact, inclusivity, creativity, and community involvement.
Harbison has consistently stood out in these areas, bringing together residents, staff, volunteers, and family members to create a warm, welcoming environment.
Harbison has two care homes, Moss Vale and Burradoo, but the staff works at both places.
This year’s winners have done a great job of building awareness and excitement around Road Worlds for Seniors. With a focus on inclusivity, Harbison has made sure that everyone is encouraged to participate, regardless of their abilities, and has made real efforts to involve all residents in the championship.
They have organised a range of daily activities throughout the event, boosting engagement across all levels and increasing participation from previous years. Their work has also drawn support from the local community, helping to promote RWS’s mission to promote activity and well-being for seniors.
Large support team
Harbison’s dedicated approach, with creative ideas and strong community involvement, is a great example of how a team can make a lasting difference for its seniors through Road Worlds for Seniors.
Alongside the staff at Harbison, they received support from a much larger team during the competition:
- The Leisure & Lifestyle Team
- The Allied Health Team
- Harbison staff volunteers and their children
- Community volunteers from our local area
- Playgroup families
- Schools (Oxley College, Chevalier College, Frensham School, St Thomas Aquinas Primary School)
- RWA Ambassador Rebecca Dicello
They also had videos of support from:
- Her Excellency the Most Honourable Sam Mostyn, Governor-General of Australia
- Governor of NSW, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC
- Premier of NSW, Chris Minns
- Australian Ambassador to Norway, Denmark and Iceland, Kerin Ayyaralaju
